Latest BSM Media Insights

This month Disney took a stand against putting their logo on unhealthy food bringing to light once again the issue of how moms are feeding their families.

BSM Media conducted an online survey of 2,063 moms across the US. All women had at least one child less than 18 years of age living at home. The following insights were revealed from the moms surveyed:

  • 95% feel there is an obesity epidemic
  • 86% feel that establishing good eating habits with their child is one of the most important lessons they can teach their child
  • 22% feel that food ads directed at children have a great deal of influence over her child's food choices
  • 67% feel that while food ads have some influence, she ultimately controls food purchases for her home
  • 95% feel that fruits and vegetables are an important part of child's diet
  • 42% are more likely to visit a fast food restaurant that offers children healthy choices (i.e. apples instead of fries, milk instead of soda.)
  • 81% do not buy pre-packaged or snack-sized fruits and vegetables because they cost more
